Fellow Europeans, Turks and Englanders,
I'm Arch-Duke Franz-Josef, Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary and King of Bohemia but you can call me Your Imperial Majesty.
As you can see I'm an elderly gent but kind to small children, such as my Great-Grandnephew Otto here . So please don't think of invading my beautiful country.
Franz Graf Conrad von Hoetzendorf, Chief of the General Staff
Archduke Eugen of Austria, General der Kavallerie
Spring 1901
- After much negotiation, the Kingdom of Sebia's request to become a federate of the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary was ratified and cheering crowds welcomed Austrian forces as they made their way through the streets of Belgrade. A new era of peace and prosperity dawns for the people of Serbia as they become members of the great family of nations that comprise the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Autumn 1901
Bulgarian Atrocities
Following the sickening reports of Turkish depredations in Bulgaria, His Imperial Majesty acceded to the requests of both Greece and Rumania for the Dual Monarchy's protection against the ravening hordes of Constantinople. This came in the very nick of time as Imperial Austrian forces thoroughly repulsed the Turkish attempt to annexe Greece. Austria-Hungary will not stand by whilst the Sultan's sadistic satraps lay waste to Bulgarian towns, burning and looting as they go. It is but a scant 25 years since the Bulgarian Horrors of 1876, and again the people of Bulgaria are oppressed by bands of bloodthirsty, baby bayonetting bashi-bazouks.
Meanwhile, England has sought to distance itself from these Horrors. An article in The Times repudiates any official connection between the British Government and the English commander of Turkish forces in Bulgaria, Hargreaves Pasha, a former colonel in Her Majesty's Army.
Autumn 1904
Constantinople Reclaimed
After 449 years, Constantinople has finally been reclaimed from the grasp of the Infidel and with this historic victory the Turks have also lost their last toehold in a Europe that once trembled before them. Indeed, Turkish armies twice threatened Vienna itself and so it is fitting that an Austrian army has finally put paid to the Turkish menace.**
